Originally, we were a one-book publisher with the title The Real Estate Primer (hence the name of the company). Eventually, we found ourselves interested in other topics and expanded the line of books to include outdoor and nature subjects, mostly about Arizona. Slowly, the number of books in Primer's catalog grew from one to twenty. In the late 1990's, what was operating as a hobby had become a full-time business. Along the way, Primer Publishers not only added new titles, but we also bought another publishing company, Renaissance House Publishers, and the catalog grew to list 100 books. We have established another imprint, American Traveler Press, with the idea that we will one day (soon!) have titles for everyone throughout the United States.

Currently, we have two series of titles that you will find in bookstores and gift shops throughout the West. The Easy Field Guides® are a series of black & white books, each designed to give you basic information about Birds, Cactus, Petroglyphs and many other nature subjects. All of the books in this series are priced at $1.50, a real bargain for those just beginning an interest in these subjects. They are sized to easily fit in your pant's pocket or the glove compartment of your car. They are great for kids and adults alike. Adults like them because they give you a lot of information for your money and the illustrations are fantastic; kids love them because they are easy to read and interesting as well.

Our other line is called the American Traveler Series. These are our color photograph books, reasonably priced at $6.95. Each book is filled with excellent photographs, color illustrations and maps to help you locate the fun stuff out here in the West. Like the Easy Field Guides®, these books cover the nature subjects, but we also have titles about Ghost Towns, Railroads and other historical places. Our primary focus is on Arizona, California and Colorado, with good information for those traveling in New Mexico and Utah as well.

We also have other books about the Southwest you will find useful. Desert Survival Handbook, Cactus Country and Finding Gold in the Desert are three of our more popular books. We also have a dvd about Hiking the Grand Canyon, a book on the Grand Canyon Railroad and more.
